A beautiful cool summer day in the big-sky country of northern Clark County

& southern Champagne County greeted 25 eager participants meeting at the

village park in North Hampton for the MVOC Bike-'O' VI race. Temperatures

reached into the 70's, but a stiff breeze kept the riding pleasant, if a bit

difficult at times. The race was run in a SCORE-O format with a four hour

time limit. There were 24-controls worth 1-point each with a 1-point

penalty for each minute (or partial minute) over time limit. Adventurers

toured a number of cemeteries in the area, as well as a buffalo ranch and a

western village where lemonade was served to those who took the time to

enjoy it. Overall winner was Mike Minum who found all 24 controls in a time

of 3:46:10. He was closely followed by Mickey McNeil, first place female

finisher who also located all the controls in 3:48:44. Several first time

orienteering racers participated, and enjoyed the experience. All racers

expressed pleasure at being out in the country on such a fine summer day.
