Jr. Champs Practice & Turkey Hunt 2024
Caesar Creek Dam - November 3, 2024
We had 82 orienteers in 49 starts.
The weather was great for orienteering with morning temps in the 40s heading to a high of 70° and sunny.
In the Jr. Champs' Middle School/Jr. High Individual Division, Isabella Hensley of Hamilton High School is applauded for posting the fastest individual time. For the Middle School/Jr. High Co-op (i.e. group) Division, the groups from Little Miami High School were on top with a well earned team score.
In the Rookie Individual Division, Elizabeth Harness of Hamilton High School took the top spot. For the Rookie Co-op (i.e. group) Division, no school fielded a full team of three groups to establish a team score, but Beavercreek High School was close with two teams finishing well.
In the hotly contested JV Individual Division, although Luke Riddlebarger from Stebbins High School came out on top, Northmont had the best team score with their 3 fastest times about 13 minutes better than Stebbins' team.
In the Varsity Division, Hamilton High School easily took the division uncontested, led by Alex (Caveman) Gutierrez.
If a Jr. Champs competitor ran a second (or third) course their results are listed with the Turkey Hunt results.
The split time list shows time spent traveling between each control. This is a compilation of everyone's split time report they received when they finished. For each competitor, the first row shows cummulative time, and the second row shows each leg's split time. Leading times are in blue. Apologies to the early runners who did not get a split sheet at the finish line. Our results printer had water inside and wasn't working. After disassembling it and letting it sit in the sunlight for about an hour we put it back together and it started working.
The next MVOC event is the Night-O at Cricket Holler Scout Camp on Friday evening, December 6, using reflective controls. It includes a Search & Destroy - O and a Potluck -- bring a dish to share! It's all great fun, and we have the K-Lodge reserved again this year! Check out more details on the MVOC home page for this event where controls can be found in any order -- with a time limit! You don't want to be late!
