73 people came out on a Friday night to participate in the Night-O and Search-and-Destroy-O at Cricket Holler, followed by an awesome potluck. Due to scheduling conflicts, it had to be moved to Friday, and the meet directors were worried about attendance. But everything worked out and we had a great group of competitors.

The rules were simple: a mass start at 6pm, with 1 hour to punch as many controls (out of 20) as you cared to find. Each control punched was worth 1 point. 7:00pm was the start of the search-and-destroy-O. Each control returned was worth 1 point. 4 of the controls also used the white controls stands, and each stand was worth 1 point. This year, for the first time, the instructions were clear enough that no control stand was left behind! However, every year we find new things that we need to improve on for the next year. Sharon did not realize that the cadets from Tecumseh High School were not yet in attendance when the rules were given, so we'll try to make sure we go over the rules again if people have to start after the mass start.

The course was again designed by Ben Bond, who stayed mostly within the main camp area, but was under direction from Sharon to have at least 2 controls at fairly difficult locations. Due to Sharon wrecking her ankle on Thursday afternoon, that meant that he was also the one to set those controls.

This year was another battle of the JROTC groups - we had Beavercreek, Tecumseh, Stebbins, and Little Miami.

Thanks to Ben for designing the course and setting all the controls. Thanks to the Beavercreek cadets who helped clean up the lodge, and who patiently waited while some of their group tried to call and find a lost cell phone.
