MVOC Orienteering at Eastwood MetroPark

Saturday, May 2, 2026

After a thirteen-year hiatus, MVOC proudly returned to Eastwood MetroPark for a beautiful, cool spring day of
orienteering. The event welcomed 50 participants, who quickly scattered through the park like ants at a cake
convention. The field featured strong JROTC representation from Belmont, Northmont, Tecumseh, and Wayne
High Schools
, adding energy and friendly competition throughout the day.

Racers navigated a mix of challenging terrain, strategic route choices, and multiple creek crossings. The Elite
Commando
division proved especially competitive, with participants making tough navigation and
time-management decisions under pressure.

Participants had up to two hours to complete the course of their choosing. A few competitors made self-inflicted,
time-consuming poor route choices along the way, but everyone finished with smiles—and plenty of stories to share
with fellow racers.
