Sunday, July 26 – Cloudy, 80°F
Twenty-five participants enjoyed near-perfect summer conditions as they explored the beautiful trails and terrain of Lost Creek Reserve. This was the first time we used one of Miami County’s finest parks, and it did not disappoint.
We were especially pleased to welcome several first-time orienteers. A few newcomers were so enthusiastic that they headed back out for a second run on a more challenging course. In what may be a club first, every participant completed their course without a mispunch, and all finished within the two-hour time limit. Congratulations to everyone on a job well done!
Special thanks go to our volunteers who helped make the event a success. Matt Bond provided the course mapping, while Mike Allen conducted the beginner training session. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
Congratulations also to Steve Barnhart, our “Macho Man” of the day, who conquered the demanding Green Elite Creek Crossing course in an impressive time of 1 hour and 9 minutes.
Notes for Finishers
- Fastest White Course: Liam Suber (BSA Troop 307) – 24:30.
- Fastest Yellow Course: Sarah Curtis (Northmont NJROTC) – 47:56.
- Orange Course Winner: Robert Stermer – 1:31:37.
- Green Course Winner: Steve Barnhart (MVOC) – 1:08:54.
- A special welcome to the Scouts from BSA Troop 307 and cadet Curtis from Northmont NJROTC, who joined us for the event.
- Most importantly, all participants returned safely, with no mispunches and no overtime finishes, a great accomplishment for everyone involved.
Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, and helped make the day another successful MVOC event. We look forward to seeing you at our next adventure!
